Amazingly, 97% of the machines components came from John Deere Industries and Irrigation Equipment of Bancroft Iowa.

It took the team a combined 13,029 hours of set-up, alignment, calibration and tuning before filming this video, but as you can see it was WELL worth the effort. It is now on display in the Matthew Gerhard Alumni Hall at the University and is already slated to be donated to the Smithsonian.

I was reading Samantha Wulff's blog the other day and I came across this blog entry where she shared this video that showed PETA(People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) protesting against KFC's cruel treatment of the chickens;which are their main money maker. I've included the video in this post,so before you watch it,brace yourself for some GORY images of real cruelty towards animals...

I'm not vegetarian. I don't go yelling,"You animal killer!!!" when I see anyone eating meat. I have nothing against eating meat. However,I am strongly against cruelty towards animals.
Let me get this straight:-
It is one thing to eat meat and quite another to TORTURE animals.

This video makes me feel really sad;not only for the chickens which were shown being subjected to horrible treatment,but also for all animals that suffer in the hands of us:HUMANS.
Some countries have laws against cruelty towards animals but they are only limited to a few animals only such as cats and dogs;but not for ALL animals.

I've witnessed quite a number of animals being cruelly treated. I've seen stray dogs being rough-handled until they bleed by captors;stray cats being kicked just for brushing against the legs of people eating at hawker stalls. Most people treat animals like objects with no feelings. Looking back at those chickens in the video;I'd like to know a few things..

1. WHY must those workers who catch the chicken THROW them against walls and crates??? Wouldn't they be better off using that energy to put more effort into increasing productivity??
   
2. I know they have to be hanged on moving belts because there are so many of them. But WHY must they still be ALIVE and CONSCIOUS while moving upside down on the belt and then dipped into boiling water to remove their feathers?????
3. WHY must those poor creatures be crammed together in a space inadequate for their sheer numbers?? Surely such a huge,global fast-food chain can afford decent chicken coops??
4. Those chicken might have been born and breed to end up fried and served in a bucket;but don't they deserve to die with dignity??

Which is true??
I'll admit that whenever things are not the way I like it,I'd wish for time to hurry by. But when I'm enjoying myself, I'd wish that the moment would last forever.

Today is the first day of November.
This is going to sound corny but I'll still say it: It seems only yesterday I finished sitting for SPM. Now I'm no longer a school student,finishing my first year in college and about to sit for advanced papers in my course.
In this case,Time does really seems to have flown past with the wings of an eagle.

And yet,with my exams approaching,time feels like going excruciatingly slow. I catch myself looking and the clock and thinking,"Just 10 more minutes and I can go to bed...and this day will be OVER!!!" I have a lot to learn about appreciating time.

Procrastination is one of my worst habits. The best proof is my pile of untouched revision books. I paid a bundle to have them photocopied and yet,I have put off opening them for so long;I don't have sufficient time to make full use of them. Old habits die hard. I'm killing mine as best as I can...This is going to be a LONG,HARD journey.

How I wish time can be held in my hands. But it's never going to come true....otherwise,the world would be perfect;and everyone knows that it is FAR from that...

you're guessing that I've adopted a new animal into my house;WRONG.(haha...got you!!!)
I accompanied my mum to a plant nursery the other day and my mum decided to humour my whim to cultivate plants and fishes in jelly..
My mum got this packet of jelly crystals for me and I soaked them in water...and they expand to 10 times their size.This is what a "jelly ball" looks like:-They're really squishy and they can bounce (this fact was tested by my brother,Joshua who broke several jelly balls by bouncing them on the table. Thank you very much...) Before I mislead you further,these jelly balls are suppose to nourish plants. You put plenty of them into a jar and stick a few pretty ferns into the jelly..*walla* instant home decorative piece. This is what I accomplished with two jars and a few plants snitched from my mum's garden:- I like the effect that the plants look like they're growing out of crystals..I got really excited and made another;which my mum gave to her friend. Feeling really pleased with myself,I embarked on the other half of 'Pet Project'. Cultivating fishes and plants in water simultaneously...

This time..different crystals were used. I kidnapped a few fishes from my mother's fish-pond in the garden and carved a plastic container for the plants. The achieved effect is this:-

The crystals are at the bottom of the jar (if you can see some yellow stuff underneath...).
Whoever thought of this cultivation is a real creative mind..
So if you're interested in these..I'd be more happy to give you some of the leftover crystals I have...CHEERS!!!

Yesterday was quiet...today was a frenzy!!!
I went to Sushi King for lunch with my classmates;
Bavanee,Stephanie,Mei Theng,Amy,Choong Lin,Kasthuri,Shobana and Yoke Wei.
The waitress eyes went huge when told that we wanted a table for 10.
And since I "pakat" with Stephanie to share the sushi we eat,we both got to eat quite a big variety of sushi. yum yum...(glutton me..)

And when we got back to college, they presented a cake to me...making it two cakes for my birthday this year...(WOW!) Look at the CHOCOLATE!!!!!!
*sorry Bavanee...I blew out the candles and sliced it before you got a proper picture..
