CGMC Youth Camp 2008

As I have reached my last -teen year, this is most probably my last Youth Camp

Venue: MBS, Rawang
Speaker: Pastor Daniel Singh

This is seriously the BIGGEST Youth Camp I've ever been to. By big I mean the number of people who attended. Back in 2003 (or was it 2002??) ,my first Youth camp in Stella Maris...we filled up one bus. This year;2008..the total number of Youths filled up THREE buses. Man,this is truly the work of God,making our Youth Group grow triple fold in just 5 or 6 years.

When I signed up for Camp this year,I was thinking to myself,"I'm gonna be in the Oldies group. But at least I won't be alone." Most of the old CY4 group signed up as well because we remembered the 2004 Camp there as one of the best camps we ever attended. So,we 'Oldies' made a pact to go for the camp;and Hugo was happily chirping,"It's going to be a CY4 reunion!!!

DAY 1

All Campers gathered at CGMC at 9:30 a.m. to pray for journey mercy (led by Pastor Ashok) and boarded our respective buses. I was in Bus C. Unfortunately, the journey there was pretty quite because yours truly was so sleepy (due to sleeping at 1 a.m. the previous night..don't ask me why) and snoozed the whole journey with SzeHaw,who was sitting with me.Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Upon reaching MBS,we all got of the bus and dragged our bags with us,gladly anticipating settling down into our rooms...but NOOOOOO...we were wrong. After depositing our stuff into a room,we were divided into our groups (total of 8 in all and I was in Group 8) and were asked to get to know each other and think of our group name.

Nostalgia. In the previous camp there,Joanna and I were in the same group. This time,we were put into the same group too. Here was us back in 2004:-

Back row from the left: Jo and me
And year 2008 group:

Back (from left): Yong Han,Jheston,Kai Juen,SzeHaw,Jo,me,Xian,Joon Yang,Andrew
Front (from left): Pui Ping,Annabelle,Grace,Benjamin,Nicholas

Each group assigned a colour bandanna and we were supposed to come up with a name relevant to it. Ours was green and Kai Juen was the group leader. Man,I'm totally crap at thinking of names..but after some off-tracking and head scratching;we came up with this:-

Yeshhh...the GREEN HULKS!!!
We had to play games after coming up with the group names. I was wearing the WRONG outfit for games!!!!JEANS and blouse..I was sweating profusely and VERY thankful when they finally let us check into our dorm. I was in a dorm with 8 other girls and we slept on bunks. This is the one I shared with Chrys:-

The view from my bed:-

Let me bring you on a quick tour around the place:-
The pool:-

The dining area:-
The Convenience Store:-

Joyce was so rich that she could afford the most expensive thing there:-

DAY 2

Woke up really early to go for a morning swim. It had been a long time since I had a morning swim.
Sze Haw took this...don't ask.... XP

Station Games today. MBS is well equipped for Station Games because there are fields scattered among the buildings.including a obstacle course, and the whole ground covers quite a big space. We had to RUN from one station to another and were given a time limit to complete the games at every station. The very first station my group stopped by was the Commando Crawl game!!! It left me with many souvenirs on my poor knees, Look:-

Oowwww......

But we HULKS persevere....ahahaaha!!!!
And Rosey Xian gave himself a new name to roll off our tongues:

MALAT = Malas Lalat
C.M.I la!!!!!!

Kidding...but I somehow could not get a decent picture with Xian. This was the closest I could get:-

White Party and so on...

Okay..I know,I know...I promised the pictures asap but I forgot to bring the cam to the party,I had to wait for others to post up the photos for me to swipe (we didn't take many anyway) and I only took a few photos with my mobile. By the way,if you're wondering what the White Party was about,it was something like an Oscars event in my church,CGMC. They had gave prizes for 'Most Daring','Most Perasan','Funniest Laugh'....you get the picture. To make it more interesting, they required us to dress in white to attend. Unfortunately, yours truly does not own a white dress (or make that...ANY dresses) so I could not turn up in style at the White Party.Image Hosted by ImageShack.us I did my best with my white blouse and heels. However, thankfully the others attending were not like me and outdid themselves..they looked so glamorous (and I'm talking about the GIRLS). The guys... *shake my head*.

Not that we want you guys to compete for mirror time, but it would be nice if you took a LITTLE effort for special events; considering that we girls do. Its only fair right???

Chrys,Sze Haw and me.

A few days before the Party,we went to watch Twilight and Chrys dragged the both of us around JJ for her much sought-after white eyeliner. YES..eyeliner. I think we must have tested every white eyeliner in sight and I got so caught up in the hunt that I ended up buying too. I wasn't very good at using it though. It's supposed to 'open up my eyes' but I only suceeded in making myself look ghostly,so I scrubbed of the entire works and used it sparingly in my second attempt at the eye.Need more practice...perhaps I should use eye make-up more often. See the picture:-
Spot the white eyeliner??
Never mind...
We had dinner before the 'awards ceremony' and we all lined up for our plates in the Garden Terrace. Our dinner consisted of macaroni with mushroom sauce (or was it stew??) with chicken wing and a corn. Here's a picture:-

Abel says: Let me at 'em!!!

I didn't really enjoy my meal because I was having so much trouble handling the chicken wing with a fork and spoon on a flat plate. I was afraid of sending it flying towards the person opposite me;or worst...flying towards ME. Plus the fact everyone was wearing white...bravo. Didn't fancy the corn either but I finished my food as best as I could. However,it wasn't so bad because I had this cute fella sitting to my right:-
He was happily tucking into the food with his big bro; Emmanuel, and making conversation with the other guys at the table. Sweet.

After our meal,we re-entered the Sanctuary to be entertained by the hilarious pictures on the screen set for the award nominees. It was totally funny and we all laughed in good fun. It was over too soon though. Sorry I can't give you the full works. *Kick myself again for forgetting the camera* But a picture before I left:-

Finished about the White Party, let me give a quick run through of other things.

There was this balloon maze set up in JJ (they've taken it down and replaced them with the usual towering and heavily ladened Christmas trees) and it was quite charming to see little kida rushing around in total excitement in it. Oh,to be seven-years-old again.
I also tried the new KFC Hot Rods with my bro.
My bro posing with them:
To be honest..it's a total rip-off. I would rather have a real satay. The Hot Rod is just skewered pieces of fried chicken breast meat. I think we're better off with real chicken pieces. At least that will give us a finger-licking good time. Just my opinion.

Oh yeah,I bought my new laptop at the PC Fair and am loving it.Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
Long live Toshiba!!!!

That's all for now.

ARRRGGH!!!!!LIZARD!!!!!

SPCA...sue me if you like;but I have no kindness to spare for the little creatures who are making themselves comfortable in my home. These little creatures (a.k.a PESTS) have been increasing in numbers since I moved into my current home last May.

I love animals...but my love does not extend to mosquitoes who buzz in my ears when I'm in bed and suck the blood out of me,the rats which clatter around behind the kitchen cupboards and do acrobatic stunts on the kitchen blinds, the cockroaches which appear from the bathroom drainage hole, and certainly NOT the icky lizards who make the ceilings their playground. The fact that they shit everywhere;even on the walls does not make them more appealing to me.

They have been making surprise appearances everywhere...the living room, the study, the kitchen and MY ROOM!!!You may read about what I did to a giant lizard which overstayed his non-existent welcome in my room previously here.

Anyway, last night..I was fetching my clean laundry from my parents' room when I felt something brushing my foot.I thought I was a stray sleeve from the pile of clothes I was juggling;so I lowered a glance to my right foot. To my horror, there was a baby lizard slowly creeping away from my little toe. I swear it was trying to creep away unnoticed but as soon it realised that its cover was blown,it started scuttling away as fast as it could under the sofa.

I was in the process of rolling up a magazine when my brother,Joshua, walked into the room and stared at me (rolling the magazine as compact as possible) and the pile of clean clothes dumped on the floor.

"What are you doing??"
"Lizard."
"Cehh...."Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

And with that sympathetic look,my bro proceeded to move the sofa and with a swift whack on the floor, caught hold of the scuttling baby lizard. Eww..I cannot stand touching lizards. They're clammy and cold...and they might take bite out of my finger. Yuk. Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
He was happily walking towards the bathroom with the beady-eyed,brown creature in his hand when I grabbed the cam and snapped a picture for its obituary.Here:-
So,before I end my post..I would like to thank the lizard who gave its life for this post.
And may this be another warning to pests attempting to infiltrate my domain.
Have a nice day.

If today was your last day

My best friend gave me the best advice
He said each day's a gift and not a given right
Leave no stone unturned, leave your fears behind
And try to take the path less traveled by
That first step you take is the longest stride

If today was your last day
and tomorrow was too late
Could you say goodbye to yesterday?
Would you live each moment like your last?
Leave old pictures in the past
Donate every dime you have?
If today was your last day

Against the grain should be a way of life
What's worth the prize is always worth the fight
Every second counts 'cause there's no second try
So live like you'll never live it twice
Don't take the free ride in your own life

If today was your last day
and tomorrow was too late
Could you say goodbye to yesterday?
Would you live each moment like your last?
Leave old pictures in the past
Donate every dime you have?
Would you call old friends you never see?
Reminisce of memories
Would you forgive your enemies?
Would you find that one you're dreamin' of?
Swear up and down to God above
That you finally fall in love
If today was your last day

If today was your last day
Would you make your mark by mending a broken heart?
You know it's never too late to shoot for the stars
Regardless of who you are
So do whatever it takes
'Cause you can't rewind a moment in this life
Let nothin' stand in your way
Cause the hands of time are never on your side

If today was your last day
and tomorrow was too late
Could you say goodbye to yesterday?

Would you live each moment like your last?
Leave old pictures in the past
Donate every dime you have?
Would you call old friends you never see?
Reminisce of memories
Would you forgive your enemies?
Would you find that one you're dreamin' of?
Swear up and down to God above
That you finally fall in love
If today was your last day
