With My Ipoh Accountants @ Vietnam Kitchen & Delicious

As promised in my previous post, I will report on my meet up with my beloved happy bunch of Ipoh-ian friends. Shalz was in town (on company assignment from JB) and she wanted to meet up with all of us Ipoh who are currently located in KL (for work or studies). Since I have not seen Shalz in the LONGEST time (since CNY!!!)

Since it was a weekend with all the CRAZY trafic, I waited with Abel and Vemal for the rest to park an make an appearance. Surprise surprise for me. TWO people I weren't expecting turned up.

Jian Yao came down all the way from Ipoh

And Saaaaaaasi turned up after work
(I hope I shall also lose weight like you when I start working Sasi!!)

At first we wanted to eat at the food court but when Shalz arrived, she suggested Little Vietnam. So we all headed there.

Vemal posing for the camera!!!
I was still full from TGIF's earlier so I decided not to eat and wait for dessert since they said we were going to have dessert later. But I did drink since we ordered a jug of Grapefruit Lemonade to share.
Grapefruit Lemonade
It tasted slightly weird. A little on the bitter side and no grapefruit.

I took pictures of the others' food when it arrived. Hehe.. I have such supportive friends who let me snap at their food before they eat. They were suggesting I get a DSLR and teasing me about my blog as usual (E.g. :"I cannot go to your blog when I'm hungry!!!").

Sasi and Vemal's Rice with Chicken Curry
I stole a bite. The curry was so-so only. Indian curry definitely beats this!!

Abel's Minced Chicken Noodle
The chicken wasn't minced. Just shredded.Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
Interesting thing was they gave quail's egg with the noodles.
Well, Abel said it was good. So I took his word for it.

Jian Yao's Rice with Beef Stew

When the bill came, Sasi suddenly quietly pulled out his wallet, paid and said it was on him. OMG I should have ordered something then!!!Image Hosted by ImageShack.us Nah, just kidding. Anyway, thanks for the drink Sasi!!!

The bill

Came with a little card thingy to collect points too.
Next, DESSERT!!!!! I was feeling excited by then..I LOVE desserts!!! They gave me the task of choosing our dessert venue so I brought them to Delicious. By the way, if you're wondering about the title, all of us in the group are ACCA students or graduates, with Shalz and Sasi already working in accountancy firms. Thus, my accountants.Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Delicious was packed with diners so we had to wait a bit for a table. Joshua joined us after his dinner. So, group pictures!!!

Vemal and Josh doing male bonding.
(If I'm not mistaken they were talking about muscle building.)

The guys

We got a table after about 15 miuntes wait. We were getting some attention because we were a merry bunch and chattering non-stop. =P

The interior decor
The others were flipping through the menu and couldn't decide on what to have. So they gave ME the task of ordering four desserts to share (they were all for five desserts but I beat that down and told them to try four first).

Josh's Black Forest

At first I'd wanted to order the Apple Pie, Macademia Cheesecake or the Apple Crumble Pie but they were sold out. So in the end, these were my four choices:
Classic Chocolate Cake

Mango Cheesecake

Lemon Meringue Pie

Strawberry Chocolate Pavlova
The desserts were good and the others were Mmm-ing and declaring their favourites among the four. So my choices were a success (Phew!!).Image Hosted by ImageShack.us And we were all SO STUFFED after we finished. Thank goodness we didn't order five!! Another surprise, when the bill came, Shalz grabbed it, paid and ordered us all to put away our wallets and purses. Awesome-ness.

THANK YOU SASI AND SHALZ!!!
NEXT TIME WHEN I GET MY PAY-CHEQUE,
THE BILL IS MINE!!!

Joshua's Turning Legal Day

(this is such an overdue post. Oops!!)

10th July 2010
The day my (not so) little brother, Joshua turned 18 years old!!!! Yoong, Khai Meng and I decided to bring the birthday boy out to celebrate and have our cousins time together. So we headed to MidValley and settled ourselves in TGIF's.
It's been quite a while since the four of us met up without the grown-ups (parents). We were chattering non-stop and debating over what to order. Since the 2 Course Meal was not available on weekends, they left the ordering up to me. So after the waiter left, I took out my camera and we all started snap snap snapping with it while waiting for our food.Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Josh and Khai Meng

Ishh...so typical of BOYS trying to look all macho in pictures.
Yoong and I made them show some love for the pictures.

(Image Hosted by ImageShack.usthe best they could do..okay lah)

Yoong and me

Then our FOOD came!!! As usual couldn't decide on which starter so came the Three-For-All which consists of three of their starters (pity didn't include the fried mac and cheese...I love that!!).

TGIF's 3-For-All

Mozzarella Cheese Sticks

Potato Jackets
These were okay but Tony Roma's does this better than TGIF

Buffalo Wings
By the way, these are way better than the Boneless Buffalo Wings
that come in the 2 course meal.

Since the main courses didn't come immediately after we finished, more random pictures:

Yoong

Us trying to be cute
lala much..haha!!

Khai Meng demo-ing another wannabe cute pose

A toast with sky juice!!

Then the main courses came!!! I'd ordered two for us to share first and wait till we finish them only decide whether to order more since the portions in TGIF are so HUGE. Yummy yummy..

Tuscan Chicken Melt

Beef Bacon Cheeseburger

We told the waiter there that it was Joshua's birthday. And true to TGIF's style, they rounded up a bunch of waiters who came and gathered around the table, proclaiming "There's a birthday in the house!!!". They made him do a few silly stuff (drink chilli sauce and serenade Yoong) before bringing out a slice of cake with a candle. But of course, he had to work for it:-

Chocolate Cake
He had to blow the candle out from where he was standing,
about 1.5 metres away. Haha!!!

He actually succeeded so he got to eat his birthday cake

Josh sniffing because he was only 'one years old' according to the cake

(My goodness, I just realised all the pictures I posted up of him are of funny funny poses. My fault because I made him pose for me. =P )

Us tucking into the cake
Needless to say, we were SUPER STUFFED. SO forget about ordering another main course..we could barely finish that one slice of cake. We paid the bill and then walked around MidValley to get his presents since he wanted elbow and wrist supports as his present (my brother the gym freak). Towards evening, Yee-Yee appeared with Rachel in tow to meet up with us and also to celebrate for Josh too.

She also wanted to get Josh a present, so we went to MPH where Josh chose a book. Haha!! My Yee always says that it's hard to choose presents for us (referring to Yoong, Josh, Khai Meng and I) since we're all grown up and Barbie dolls and toy cars aren't out thing anymore; so BOOKS are the best bet.
Yee-Yee and Rachel with Josh
(Rachel just got a new book and she's INTO it)

I also got something from my awesome Yee-Yee!! She got me my Starbucks Tumbler!!!I've been wanting a tumbler to carry my coffee to class (my current one leaks a little) and the Starbucks ones are so cute!!! So I finally got one and now I can sip my coffee in class instead of gulping it down and potentially scalding my throat before my 8 a.m. classes. THANK YOU YEE YEE!!!

After she got us our stuff, I had to leave to meet up with my friends from Ipoh since Shalz was in town and she wanted a meet up with all us Ipoh Mali-s who were currently in KL (will update bout this in next post). So I couldn't join Yee-Yee, who took the others to dinner.

Well, that's all I can update for now.
Stay with me!!!

Predators + Kitchen Date with Ben

Fridays are our days; since we're both free on that day to spend time with each other.Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

I'd decided to cook lunch for the both of us, so Ben came and picked me up and we headed to Pyramid for ingredients (last minute, so nothing was in the kitchen). Since we were already there, Ben wanted to catch a movie. At first we wanted Despicable Me but since the movie timings weren't to our liking we crossed it off for time being, Twilight:Eclipse was totally slashed off (no way I'm paying money to watch THAT. Anti Kirsten Stewart as Bella) so in the end, we got tickets for Predators.
The movie was kinda pointless. Not much suspense and you just sit there watching people get killed. Not much story there either. Boring. Can you imagine, I don't really like watching violent scenes and I called Predators boring. Save your money, people and go watch something else. But not Twilight OKAY!!! (See how anti I am??)

Anyway, after the movie left we got what we needed from Jusco and headed back to cook lunch together. I like to cook; and I like cooking for him, but I love it when we're cooking together.Image Hosted by ImageShack.us It's fun too because I get to be amused watching him do the stuff I let him handle, since he doesn't help in his kitchen at home. Besides acting as my sous chef, he also acts as my photographer and snaps snaps snaps while I prepare the stuff. So the following pictures are from Ben's blog because I didn't do any snapping. So this was lunch after about an hour in the kitchen together:

(Image Hosted by ImageShack.usCredits to my dear for preparing these two):

Garlic Bread
(because I didn't have an oven it kinda failed)

Mashed Potatoes

While he took care of the garlic bread and mash, I managed to serve these up:-

Lemon Garlic Chicken Breasts

'Pigs-in-the-Blanket'

Our lunch
