When In Rome & The Losers = 2 good movies

Ben asked me to choose a movie the night before and I said I wanted to watch 'When In Rome'. Apparently only GSC is screening this movie so he got us tickets for the 11am slot in GSC MidValley. It has been a long LONG time since I watched a 11am movie. I seriously think the last time was when I was still in Sunway Ipoh..which means 2008.Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

The movie was funny and enjoyable; though the plot was pretty predictable. The characters were well cast. There were some scenes where they were doing outrageous and over-the top things but it all added the to the hilarity. Not bad for a romantic comedy. I loved the scenes of Rome in the movie though there weren't enough of them. But my especial favourite was the little yellow Italian car used in a pretty funny chase:-

Here's another of Fergie standing next to it with husband Josh Duhamel (male lead) squashed inside:-

After the movie, Ben was lured by the tempting smells wafting from Saint Cinammon. They just took out a batch of fresh cinnamon rolls from the oven. It's been years since I had a roll from there so we ordered 3 rolls to share:-

Mmm..I wish I could smell them again..

Chocolate

Apple

Walnut
We hung out quite some time in Saint Cinnamon and later killed time walking around MidValley deciding on lunch. Since we were kind of lost for ideas, I just suggested Kim Gary. I just felt like eating their Cheese Baked Rice.

My Steak Cheese Baked Rice
(wasn't really great. I didn't finish the rice)

Ben's Rice with Egg and Mince Beef

Our drinks and starters which came with the set:-

Iced Milk Tea and Iced Mixed Coffee and Tea

Cream soups

After lunch we were pretty listless until Ben started text-ing with his friend and asked me if I wanted to watch The Losers. I was fine with it so we bought our tickets and entered the cinema.
I really enjoyed this movie. It's action packed but not too intense. The violence level was at okay level for me (sorry if I sound squeamish but I don't particularly enjoy watching people being beaten into pulp with blood spurting everywhere) and there was some good humour inserted along the story. The characters were interesting. Specially liked Chris Evans as Jensen:- Had me chuckling away at his funny t-shirts and his funny singing of the Don't Stop Believing. I was not bored or sleepy or confused along the duration of the movie. Only thing was, I was not satisfied with the ending. Kind of abrupt and loosely hanging...meaning there will be a sequel, I guess. (Hmm..I just realised that both these movies had totally FUNNY lift scenes)

Anyway, after the movie was over, we went for a short meet-up with Ben's friends where I was introduced to Adrian, Zheng Si, Andy and Mun Yan. Just had time for a short "Hello." and smiles since time didn't allow and everyone had their own plans. Dinner was in Noodle House in SS15. We ordered their promotion RICE sets. Yup, you read right..rice in NOODLES House:-

Black Pepper Chicken (Mine)
Was good and the rice was quite fragrant.

Lemon Chicken (Ben's)
The lemon sauce was too thin and rather funny to me.. =/

The set came with drinks:

Green Tea(his) and Iced Lemon Tea(mine)Maybe I was having the luck with the orders...although Ben said afterwards he was alright with it, I thought his chicken and drink were pretty tasteless. =/

They also offered chilli sauce with a brand I'd never seen before..Hmm...

When I got back to my room,I was feeling super stuffed with all the day's intakes. On the plus side though...It kept me awake and I managed to get through my Quality chapters in P3. Okay..that's all for now. :)

Cooked with HEART

Nope, sorry to disappoint but I did not set foot into the kitchen today. Instead, I'm about to show you something quite icky I found in my Sizzling Noodles today :-

a whole chicken heart
Wahh!!!I was suspicious of that chicken piece because the shape was somehow not right to me. I prodded it thinking it might be chicken lungs (lungs, kidneys, gizzard..I can accept) but when I saw it was a whole HEART, I think my eyebrows went wayyy up. Maybe to some people it might have been a treat, but to me..*shivers*

I'd like to take the opportunity here to thank my Mommy for her guidance in the kitchen where along the way I learned to identify the innards of the food I eat. This is the first time I ever found a whole HEART in my food. Of course when I eat Mommy's cooking I don't have to be wary of my meat, when eating outside...it's a different story.

So..check your food!!!

I put on my apron and entered the kitchen

I felt so idle today. I put on my nerd spectacles and buried my head in my Business Analysis notes. I tried to ABSORB. Arghhh...I guess I should feel better about myself now since I have been at it the whole day, but I'm ending up feeling pretty stressed and moody.Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
There are signs everywhere shouting at me to go, "STUDY!!!"
My Facebook games aren't loading. Cafe World, Bejeweled, Mindjolt and even Plock doesn't load. All flash at me 'Not Found. The requested URL was not found.' Sadness. Thus you see I have been so rajin-ly updating here. Touch wood, next Blogger might not let me access.

Since I dislike the idle feeling, I decided to do some cooking today. It's been a long time since I cooked anything more complicated than Maggi with egg. To think I used to cook for myself almost everyday when I first came to Subang. Fried rice, spaghetti, couscous, meatballs, salad, teriyaki chicken..I'm reminiscing. Well, since I bought sliced beef tenderloins the other day, I decided to make spaghetti bolognese with cheese. Result :-
I added some cheddar from the block my Mum gave me. Since I do not have a grater I wanted to slice it and let it melt over the top but my slices were to thick since the knife was blunt. Hmm..at least it all melted into the bolognese sauce properly when I mixed it in and created the texture I intended. There's something satisfying in cooking a proper meal. Wish I didn't have to do the washing up though. Maybe I should attempt french toast and pancakes next since I have eggs...

Anyway, I was looking around some random pages on Facebook (see, boredom) I found this page called Syu Shu which specialises in skyscraper heels. I amused myself browsing around. These two specially makes me drool:-

Okay...back to my notes.

I ♥ the sound of rain

My P3 lecturer finished the syllabus with us today. OMG...this totally makes me feel all the more stressed. It means I have to start hardcore revision for finals now. Eeeeek!!!

When class finished, Abel and I were stuck in the cafeteria for a little while because the rain was SO HEAVY. To the point even I didn't dare to rush through it because:
1. I had no umbrella
2. I didn't want to risk falling sick again
3. I was wearing slippers with worn out soles

Reason Number 3 is the biggest factor. The last time I attempted a dash like that, I remember skidding across the wet tiles and misshaping the bushes along the sidewalk by clutching them hard to avoid landing on my butt. Don't laugh. I actually did land on my butt once and ever since, trauma prevails every time I have to walk across the wet tiles.

But I made it to my room in one piece. It's been a long time since I had been able to lie in bed without having to worry about anything later and listen to the sound of the rain. It was peaceful. And I actually napped. Fortunately, Louisa and Ben woke me up with their texts else I think I would have slept till the next day!!

Anyway, I have the room to myself AGAIN since my roomie has gone back for a week. Hohohohoho... *evil grin*. Nah, I don't know why I did that evil impersonation. Just a little random end to this post. I have been massaging my bruises from paintball following to advice from several parties. I think it works because I don't feel the pain so much, but my bruises are turning UGLIER because they're turning darker and BIGGER!! See the one on me thigh now:-

compared to just 3 days ago...

The others on my arms and legs look equally bad only not as big. Fortunately I can cover them all with my clothing else I will give people the impression that I'm either very careless or I am in an abusive relationship. Haha!!! Kidding.

Alright. That's enough randomness for today. Out.

Black Sesame Cream is YUMMY!!

I went to KTZ for their yummy black sesame cream again!! Thanks to Kar Ning who brought us to SS2 for dinner the other day before our grocery shopping. Its such a nice change from Sunway area PLUS I get to enjoy good food without burning a hole in my purse.Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

I absolutely LOVE this black sesame dessert, 'hak ji ma wu' in Cantonese. Although I still think the nicest black sesame I've ever had still comes from Ming Court, Ipoh; there are some pretty nice ones available here in KL and the one that holds my preference so far is the one from KTZ:-
The warm, sugary smell is just so nice...It's not too sweet, texture is fine and a little grainy, just as I like it...only not as thick as I would ideally prefer. Besides that I also ordered the Lo Mai Kai since I wasn't very hungry:-
I ended up feeling super full anyway. The lo mai kai was a bit too wet but not too bad. The others; Kar Ning, Abel, Yean Shan and Ji Yen kept offering me their food because they were worried I am not full. Haha!! Generous people. But the only thing I took were pictures of their food.Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Kar Ning's Chee Cheong Fun

and Siew Mai:-
The sauce was tasty!!!I suspect it was lemon sauce with some hot mustard. Interesting. We were tasting it in intervals and trying to guess what was in it. (and Ben...no prawns!!) :P

Ji Yen and Abel ordered the Chicken Dumpling Tom Yam Lei Fan:-

Yean Shan's Beef Noodles:-

And lastly, how can I not show KTZ's bestselling desserts:-

Honeydew Loh and Mango Loh

I made myself hungry typing this post. =.=
Fortunately it's dinner time. Ramly Double Special here I come!!!!

My first ever PAINTBALL tourney @ Monash Extreme Sports Carnival

Today was my first time ever playing paintball!!Image Hosted by ImageShack.us I've always wanted to play paintball and perked up when Carina offered me the opportunity; by asking me to join her team for the Paintball Tournament in the Monash Extreme Sports Carnival. I only had to pay a joining fee of RM24 and joined a team of 5.

So this morning I woke up nice and early (6:40 a.m), it's been quite awhile that I woke up before the sunrise and it's quite nice to smell the morning cold air smell. Haha!! Never mind if you don't know what I'm talking about. I met up with Carina at Sun-U Residence and we both walked to Monash together.
Jee Kit drove past me while I was waiting at Sun-U with his carload of people, and they stopped to say hi before they headed off for our W31 CG Picnic at Lake Gardens WITHOUT ME.Image Hosted by ImageShack.us For a moment I really wanted to ask Jee Kit to squeeze me in too!!I wish I could have joined you guys at Lake Gardens!!!!!

Anyway, Carina and I met up with our team in the Monash field. I actually met the other team members for the first time YESTERDAY. So here are my awesome team members:

Team Lucky Star!!
Carol, Richard,Carina and Jason!!

All amateurs playing paintball for first time. We went to register and were given forms to sign (they basically say : "I won't hold anyone responsible if I die during the paintball match) and were given a short briefing from a member of the Malaysian Paintball Referee Organisation (MPRO). Learned some basic stuff on rules and regulations. Even infamous cheating tactics. Quite informative. Then all 15 teams were told to go to the paintball battle area:-

15 teams. And majority (like 80%) were GUYS. There was absolutely NO all-girls team and our team were one of the few with more girls than guys. I amused myself looking at the team name list while waiting for our turn:-

(click to read all names and tell me which is the most funny??)
My personal favourite is the "Coconuts WTF LOL" The organiser kept shouting, "Coconuts W-T-F!!" and then gradually shortened to, "COCONUTS!!!" We all laughed like crazy and it helped lighten my mood because I was REALLY FEELING NERVOUS!!! We were the 4th team to compete and we observed the earlier teams before we were told to put on our gear:-

Face masks

Markers (NOT guns)

This is what a paintball looks like!!!

Our matches were all speedball matches. We played 4 matches against four different teams to collect as many points as possible. We did not make it through to the next stage, there were some real pros playing there. Despite some malfunctioning markers and some temperamental referees, we had a lot of fun!!! It was a really really good experience!!! We lasted longer each round and I really enjoyed the adrenaline rush I got from the matches. These was us before the last match:-

Pumped!!!
(arghh..pity no full group picture)

Yours truly in paintball gear:-

After everything was over, I checked out the rest of the Carnival games available. Was tempted to try the rock climbing but I did not as I was too tired and sore...Pictures for my readers:-

Rock Climbing

Err...what's this??

Orbing
(Looks like human hamster ball!!)

Syok-ness. My clothes were super drenched with sweat and I could feel my whole body as if it was 'flushed' and hot. Paintball is good exercise!!! Comes with a price though...I was warned beforehand by several people of the BRUISES I would get. Well, when I got back to my room and showered, I felt my person carefully and counted my bruises. I have more than I thought I had. =.= Ahh..since I have them. I shall proudly show you one of my 'souvenirs' from my first ever paintball tourney:-

(It looks even more ugly in real life now)

Who's up for next round???!!! Image Hosted by ImageShack.usImage Hosted by ImageShack.usImage Hosted by ImageShack.us
