Impromptu Steamboat

I love my friends. Haha!! They're awesome. Seriously.Image Hosted by ImageShack.us Read on to find out why.
The other day, I was having lunch with Abel, Vemal and Emily after a very brain draining first P2- Corporate Reporting class. It was raining and we (me, Abel and Emily) were reminiscing about the time it rained super heavily and we ended up randomly having steamboat that night (click here to read). And from there, someone exclaimed, "Come lah, tonight we steamboat!!" and before I knew it, everything was planned and settled.

Abel had class, Vemal had gym; so he walked with me to Pyramid to meet Emily (whose dad dropped her there) and Emily and I went to Jusco to buy all the steamboat stuff while Vemal worked out. He had additional workout carrying all out stuff back to the apartment. Haha!! I got out my multi-cooker and we spent about half an hour washing and chopping; and then...ready for steamboat!!!!!

Ta Da!!!

We got lots of vegetables because they are good for health and yummy in steamboat.

Cabbage and asparagus

Dory fish meat

More veggies, egg tofu and fishballs

Inouki Mushrooms
(My personal favourite!!)

This is Emily..
Not wise to steal her food. Hehe.

Me and Abel

And this is Chia Ching
Emily's friend who so sportingly joined us at the last minute.

Oh, you must be eye-ing and wondering how Ruski came into the picture. Well, since we didn't have time for me to prepare proper soup and no Maggi Cubes, we boiled the noodles, put half the paste into the boiled noodles.

And we had gon lou Ruski

And the rest of the paste, we poured into the multi-cooker and made soup for steamboat!! See our tom yam soup:

Woohoo..throw everything in boil boil boil...

And we get a pot full of goodies

My first bowl
And I had another like 3 bowls after that. Was super full after that. After the guys did all the washing (thanks guys!!) we sat around and chatted and chatted and chatted. The others ended up planning to go out to watch the Spain vs Germany match later that night while I decided to stay in. Not a football fan. =P They left with thanks all around and asking when is our next makan, with Vemal promising to be the chef next round. Hehe..

Now see why I love my friends??

Seafood..Cooked and Uncooked. YUM

Sharing food has it advantages; I only have to pay for half of a giant plate which I cannot finish on my own, I get to taste more variety (provided the other party also likes sharing food) which means I have more FOOD PICTURES to parade in my blog. HOHOHOHOHOHO!!!

Nah, actually I only seem to do that when I'm with Yoong or Pui San around. I was in Pyramid (again) to collect my voucher from Celebrity Fitness (which I was supposed to collect in April..Oops!!) for recommending Pui San to join the gym and we had lunch together in Manhattan Fish Market. My first time ever here. We shared the following:-

Soup Of The Day : Seafood Clam Chowder
Which tasted more like tomato soup than clam chowder. Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Citrus Drink
It was super SOUR and cold but refreshing.

Me posing with the main course

Grilled Platter for One

Was good and I especially enjoyed the calamari!!

The portion was just nice for the both of us. We walked around a bit and got quite tired (I was yawning and yawning for no reason) so Pui San suggested to go to Sakae Sushi. I was like, "HUH??". She pulled this out of her bag:-

I swear Pui San's the Queen of vouchers and free gifts.

But I was still full from lunch and decided to only eat a few little items. Plus I'm not a fan of Sakae Sushi. *Waves Sushi Zanmai banner*.

Ocha
I really don't like Sakae's ocha. Just doesn't suit my taste. =/

My Salmon sushi-s
(if you still haven't guessed I LOVE raw salmon)

Pui San and I shared this Soft Shelled Crab sushi
(it was SOFT and tasteless. So much for crab)

At first I was ready to leave but Pui San was suddenly in a good mood and ordered other stuff for herself. Image Hosted by ImageShack.us This petite girl is a force to be reckoned with. Kudos!! Pictures of Pui San's food:-

Egg Mayo

Potato Salad
(She ALWAYS has potato salad whenever we eat Japanese)

Oyster Omelette

Needless to say, it will be a long long time before I eat Japanese again. . .

Or maybe...for a month...

Or..a forthnight???

Haha!!! Okay..end of post.

Tony's Sampler @ Tony Roma's Sunway Pyramid

Well, I'm back in Subang again. I have unpacked and restored order to my side of the room (got rid of a whole bunch of papers and random leaflets I somehow accumulated in my room), sorted out my new timetable and fees and basically settled down again. It's another new semester..I wonder what it will bring.

Pui San is currently on HER semester break (I wish I still was too!!) and she called me to meet her for dinner in Sunway Pyramid after her return from her shopping spree in Bukit Bintang. I went early to collect my trial contact lenses in England Optical but they didn't have stock (boo!!) so I just waited for Pui San to appear. When she did, she announced that she was starved and must have her dinner immediately. Haha!!

After some discussion (with Pui San crossing off Japanese food. =[ ) we ended up in Tony Roma's. I think the last time I came here was AGES ago and I don't really remember it.

We were ushered to a table and given menus. While flipping, we tucked into their yummy warm bread with garlic butter:-

Complimentary white loaf with garlic butter
I think I have a penchant for starters. Must be something to do with the fact the starters are huge enough to be a meal (even same price as some main courses) and comes with dips (I love dips!). Well, because the both of us couldn't agree on which starter to order we ordered the Tony's Sampler so that we get to try everything:-

Tony's Sampler

Me with our FOOOOD!!!

The Tony's Sampler consists of Tony Roma's other Starters which you can order on their own:-

Half Onion Loaf

Buffalo Wings and Roasted Potato Skins
Mmm..all the stuff above was totally delicious. We had meant to order a main course after the starters but by the time we finished everything on that huge plate, both Pui San and I were too full to think of more food. Phew.. I was eye-ing the ribs which the next table called. Getting ideas. Hehe..

Oooh...I found a cutely shaped buffalo wing on the plate. See:-
(No, I didn't keep it. I ate it and digested it)

Fullness to the maximum. We walked around a bit for some groceries before heading home. And Pui San gave me a cupcake from Bisou to take back. Originally meant for 'dessert' but we were too stuffed. =P

Cupcake!!Yay!!

Kar Pin Eating Shop, Ipoh

It was morning, the day of my return to KL for the new semester, meaning the end of my precious (and so short) break. Actually, I was quite looking forward to returning to KL; only that I always have the dragging feet approach to the end of my breaks. Well, as is customary, my parents brought Joshua and I out to breakfast before our 9 a.m. train. Mum suggested this shop which along the road after MGS Ipoh, Kar Pin; which I've never been to before:-

Their specialty is their assorted yong tau foo
Which they put it all at this table at the entrance

I let Mum make the choice for us and went to get a table inside. The exterior in the picture above looked so old but the interior must have been newly renovated since it was really clean and nicely lit. We all ordered coffee for our drinks.

Mum and Dad's Hot Coffee

Josh and my Iced Coffee

Our food took a little while to come, but it was worth the wait. Pictures:-

Noodles (gon lou hor fun mien)

Assorted fried yong tau foo

Assorted yong tau foo in hot soup

Their liu was really good. I am a loyal Big Tree (Dai Shue Geok) customer, where I cannot get enough of their fried liu. But this shop, Kar Pin fared very well with theirs too. Their fried liu were very crunchy and tasty, and the liu in soup were very fresh. I especially loved their giant fishball, which was springy and nicely flavoured with cuttlefish. Mmm..

BIG fishball in my plate
Looks like I've discovered another place for a yong tau foo fix!!!
Yay-ness! Breakfast plans in place for next time I go back to Ipoh!! Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Lollies from Down Under

I'm pretty behind in updates (again..) because been rather busy packing and getting ready to head back for the new sem. I felt a little reluctant to leave because the students from Aussie were flocking back into Ipoh on their break; and it always seem that when they come back, I go, or vice versa. Added to the fact that I was home-bound since I don't have a car to drive around anymore. Sighness...

But one bright spot was I managed to meet up with Chrys for a lunch and catch-up time. It's like the first time ever she and I are in Ipoh the at the same time ever since I went off to KL and she to Melby. Had a really good chat and catching up with her over lunch and I didn't bring out my camera (Arghhh..I don't get many pictures with you Chrys!! =[ ). We went back to my place to chat more and I showed her some of the random things I learnt about Photoshop, one of it being the ability to enlarge a certain part of the body where I demonstrated on a certain somebody's picture (not my fault!! Chrys' request!! =P ) Anyway, she brought a packet of lollies for me. Thanks Chrys!!

Lollies

In three different flavours (lemon, orange and lime)
Hard sweets and quite nice to keep your mouth occupied because they are hard and lasts quite long. Yummy yummy...

Other than the lunch I've been the perfect recluse at home; literally watching fruit grow, since my Mum harvested 4 apple custards from our tree in the back garden. The first ever we harvested more than 2. If you're wondering what they are, here's a picture:-

Apple custards

Joshua's 18th birthday is coming up but my parents celebrated early for him since we won't be home during his 'coming of age' day. Haha!!! Well, that's all for now while I upload the rest of my pictures.
