I ♥♥ L♥VE ♥♥ my cousins!!!!

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us Yay!!!Finally Joyce gets off her lazy ass and starts updating.
I've been spending my free time chasing after TVB's The Gem of Life. I'm up to episode 54 at the moment. I know lah I'm slow..Astro has already aired the last episode, episode 82. I've been watching it on and off. It just got really interesting that's why I'm stuck on it. So I sacrificed blogging time. Sorry ya.....

---------------------------------------------

Regarding the title of my post.
I've been getting the best of both worlds!!! I've been see-ing a lot of my two favourite coudins recently!!! I've many cousins (seriously many..counting my father's side and mother's side of the family) but I'm closest to one on each side:-

Sze Haw (same age) from my paternal side.
aaand..
Yoong (2 years junior) from my maternal side.

Normally I only see Yoong about a few months once because she's in Klang and I only go back during holidays;which, believe me..are rare when you're an ACCA student. SzeHaw was always with me until last year when she went to Monash University and I was still in Ipoh. So last year was cousin-depraviton season. :(

But the past week has been A-awesome!!!!!

Last Saturday (21/2/2009) was Yoong's 18th birthday. (Yessss...I've been neglecting my blog.So better late then never). I spent a very busy Friday testing the efficiency of public transport in KL by rushing from Subang Parade, back to hostel, then to the train station and squashed into the commuter to my aunt's place. Silly me actually planned to go to aunt's place on Saturday but changed my mind last minute and decided to go on Friday evening, because weekends have crazy jams. So last minute birthday present rush in Subang Parade resulted in rushing back and forth.Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

But it was worth it. We celebrated Yoong's Turning-Legal Day in Pizza Hut. Birthday girl's choice. And I was flipping through the menu when I noticed they had a Birthday Pizza for people celebrating birthdays. So my aunt and I notified the amused waiter ( I don't know why he looked so amused. He just grinned away we told him it was Yoong's birthday) and after devouring our pizzas, the birthday pizza arrived:-
Erm, it's not a real pizza. Just a crust of unleavened bread wih strawberry jam (that's what the red globs are) with strawberry ice-cream. Oh wells...we just dug in. The ice-cream was nice and we were laughing away at how messy the strawberry jam was. The cooks probably haven't had to make this in a LONG time. No complaints. Free mah...Birthday Pizza will never replace a real birthday cake!!!
So once we were back from dinner...cake cutting ceremony plus photo session!!!!

Mint Chocolate Cake:-
complete with birthday girl!!!
Yaaaa...I know I said photo session but I'm lazy to upload the pictures.Plus the pictures aren't very flattering. (Imagine me and Yoong with wide open mouths and chowing down cake. Not pretty. ) Hehe....it was fun though.

And the other day, I went on a shopping spree with Sze Haw. It was impromptu. I was supposed to be 'teaching' Sze Haw how to take public transport but our plans were thwarted by the horrid weather. WHY must it always rain at the wrong times...WHY???!!!! We went to Summit Mall. It was boring there...and we felt kinda not safe. And I walked into this pet shop to admire the cute puppies when Sze Haw went," JOOOOOOOOOOOOOOYCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!" and started yanking me and pointing at my my feet.

O.o???

I looked down and I saw THIS:-

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

GOODNESS!!!!I was like leaning against the cage while trying to get a better view of the puppies. !@#T!F@#^*&%!!!!!! What the hell were the shop owners thinking????Keeping such a huge snake in a simple dog cage??!!!!Have they any idea how strong snakes are????!!!!There were more snakes in there. Some in glass cases but I didn't stay long to check them out. Snakes are NOT meant to be pets in my opinion.

We were outta Summit Mall after that and we had a hard time getting to Subang Parade. (Long story and I'd rather not tell it.) Subang Parade was fun. We found this nice shop which sold really nice vintage printed tees!!!
Happiness!!!!!!
And they have a blog. If you wanna check it out click here. Such a steal!!!

We also raided Sunway Pyramid before having dinner there on a separate occasion. Tried on a lot of clothes but ended up buying nothing. Was saving me cash for something else. (Will tell in my next post) Haha..but it was fun to try out stuff and take pictures (to make up for being unable to own them)

Forever 21 and Miss Selfridge had a LOT of nice clothes!!!!We kinda messed up the place (give the sales girls some things to do..) But these were among my favourites for the day:-
The black and white jumpsuit was funny. I thought it was a long top. Sze Haw was trying to convince me to buy it but I don't think I'd ever wear it out if I bought it. HAHA!!!!
I loved this angelic looking white top but it was kinda overpriced for such a simple thing.
Oh well...

And this funny t-shirt caught my eye.
What kind of impression would I give if I wore it???
*chuckles*

Okay...
That's it for now.

More to come so stay with me!!!!!

Monday 16 February 2009

So my results were...

I failed my F8 Audit and Assurance paper.
.
..
...
....
by 3 marks.
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
Damn...

Well, at least I passed my resit papers; F4 Corporate and Business Law, and F6 Taxation.
I guess there can be no truer description when I say,

" In ACCA, expect the unexpected."

I really, really, really thought I was going to fail my Tax and I actually thought the Audit paper went better then my Tax paper. I guess I was wrong. Similar to the scenario of June 2008 where I passed F5 without having any idea how I did it. Like I was saying to Sam the other day, "I'm gila case."

So, to those who have been inquiring; that's my results for December 2008 sitting. Not really pleased with it because I expected to do better (I studied darn hard because I didn't want to resit a second time and more!!!), yet I'm glad that I passed 2 papers out of 3.
ACCA, I'm 2 papers closer!!!!

And....CONGRATULATIONS to my friends who passed their papers!!! I'm so happy for you guys!!! And to those who didn't do so well, remember:

This. Is. A. C. C. A.
It's tough; but NOT impossible.

So never ever give up. Hang on!!!!

V Day Report

Haha...
Nope nope...the situation in the above picture was not part of my Valentine's Day this year.
The only hand I held was the paw of my cousin's teddy bear. So does it count??
Sorry to disappoint you. *Hahaha!!!*

I was at my aunt's place for the weekend again. Spent most of the day at home. SUCH a HOT day!!!!!!! And it was seriously not a good day to go out. We totally did NOT want to jostle in the mall with love-struck couples celebrating the day which is a tribute to St Valentines and the usual mad weekend crowd in the malls. Home was the safest place.

Towards evening, Yoong and I were feeling restless and decided to go jogging in the hill near her house. So we got ready and my aunt drove us there. The place is actually at a foot of a hill which the MBK (as in Majlis Bandaraya Klang..like Ipoh has MBI ) converted into a recreation area for the public. Nice place and nice surroundings.

So we started a brisk walk up the hill route (no actual jogging..we're not fit enough for that. *malu* ) Anyway, we barely completed the second round on the route when clumsy me slipped on a pothole on the badly tarred road and twisted my right ankle. I did this stupid hand-flapping pirouette to avoid falling flat on the ground. Man...it hurt!!! (Still does by the way. =.= )

I sat down a while after the twist and tried walking again. Could walk but there was a slight throb with each step so I took it easy. Then, I noticed this boulder situated in near the hill slope:-Yes yes, you guessed it. I suggested to Yoong to climb it. It was easy to climb really.
Yoong's demonstrating how easy it was to climb:-
And she took horrid pictures of me climbing:-

The Faceless Mountain Woman:-

And this picture:-.......

Do you see a resemblance????

=.=
Anyway, after climbing up and down and scrambling around on it, we went to the reflexology path. Which is a path with pebbles on it and you walk on it (preferably) barefooted. It's suppose to promote blood circulation??? I have walked on this before and it's quite painful. Some people quit after stepping a few seconds. But there were little kids running around on it barefooted with total ease:-
I guess their blood circulation is totally fine....

As for me..I went on it with my socks. Didn't want to risk a bite from all the red ants crawling around between the pebbles:-
I completed the whole round....twice. *Yay!!!*

So that is all about my Feb 14th..

------------------------------------------

Oh ya...I finally replaced my broken headphones for my computer.
Bought this huge-ass headphones which covers my ears:-
Going to test it out now. *Hehe!!*
I consider it an investment. Weeeee!!!!

RED ALERT!!!

Oh God..please help me.

I finally solved a Rubix Cube!!Weeee!!!!

Image Hosted by ImageShack.usYay!!!! Thanks my roomie, Yean Ting, who's a genius with Rubix Cubes (while I'm struggling with the 3x3,she's already mastered the 5x5) and tips from the Internet, I, me, yours truly, have learned how to solve Rubix Cubes!!!! (And Philemon, stop bursting my bubble, Rubix Cubes aren't nerdy okayyyy....Image Hosted by ImageShack.us)

The ones in the picture above are the ones belonging to my cousins since I don't own a Rubix Cube...yet. You see, I used to own a mini one, which is actually a ciplak keychain one from MiniToons. And it lasted like 2 and a half weeks before breaking into pieces when I was playing with it.Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Never fear!!!I will be venturing to the nearest Toys"R"Us to get myself AUTHENTIC ones!!!I am in love with the mini ones. They just look so compelling!!

Bar-B-Q and Häagen-Dazs Chocolate Fondue

As I am typing this, I'm panting because I just carried two 1.5 litre bottles,a water container and a flask; all filled with water, up 3 flights of stairs. You see, finicky me refuses to drink the water from the taps in my hostel apartment. I have an issue with the cleanliness of the water. SO...since I stick to my decision, I get my drinking water from the water dispenser which is installed on the first floor for all residents' use. I stay on the 3rd floor, so thus the stairs climbing everyday with water bottles and container. The dispenser has hot, cold and room temperature water, so there's variety...plus I there's no need to boil the water in an electric kettle. The first time my housemates saw me panting in the living room with my bottles, they stared at me:

"Did you just walk down to the water dispenser??"
"Errr...yea."
"All the way down there??Why would you do that?"
"I'm lazy to boil the water." (How could I say I think the water they drink isn't really clean!!!!)
". . . .WE'RE lazy to WALK down like that everyday!!!"

So, yea...this shows how finicky I am.Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
Seriously though; my decision isn't without reason. The first time I tried boiling the tap water, I was hit with a strong chlorine smell when I lifted the lid of the pot.I threw the water away. No way I'm putting that much chlorined water in my body. Plus once, while I was bathing; the water suddenly turned brown (and no..not exaggerating. It was the colour of rust!!!) and I freaked out but had to rinse myself off all the shampoo in my hair. I took another LONG bath as soon as the water turned clear again. Trauma to the max.

***********

Okay, I'll stop the water talk. This was supposed to be about the outing with Louisa. One of the things I love about coming here is that I get to see Louisa more often. I used to see her twice a year last time, even then, only for a few hours. Anyway, I got this voucher thingy for Bar-B-Q Plaza in Pyramid so I decided to check it out and utilise it with Louisa. At first, Asha was supposed to join us but she got held back in class.

This was Louisa's and my first time in that place. So we were pretty unsure what exactly we were having for lunch. The name of the place said bbq right???Louisa and I ordered the mixed economy platter and it arrived:-

Looks like a steamboat platter ya????
It's actually sirloin, bacon, beef, prawns, squid,"tai lok mee" and veggies.

And there was this gold platter thing on a gas stove on our table which Louisa got funky with:-

I just Googled them up and this is the description I got from the site:-

"Fancy a fusion of Mongolian and Korean ’DIY table top cooking’ meal? The menu offers the freshest of ingredients and a secret brown sauce flown in directly from Thailand"

Hmm...well, both of us had no idea what to do with our platter (or table top stove???) and our ingredients. Apart from that platter they gave us small bowls of garlic, chillies and the 'secret brown sauce' and a small plate with two chunks of fat. No, I did not type wrong and you did not read wrong. Two chunks of FAT. Animal fat. I was poking it with my chopsticks when Louisa took up her piece and started rubbing it all over the hot platter:-
Louisa : We're suppose to oil it first.
Me : *Blur* Huh??How did you know??
Louisa : That's what the table over there is doing.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.usOkayy...so I learned a new trick. Next time when you enter a restaurant and you're not sure what to do, sit near a table with people who're busy eating so that you don't have to amuse the waiter by asking him how do you eat your food.So we both started piling stuff to sizzle on the pan.Louisa was chirping," Isn't this fun??We pay and we cook our own food." =.=

Eating with Louisa is always fun because..funny or weird things happen. In this case....she decided that she wanted to marinate her meat and asked for soy sauce and chilli sauce (the 'secret sauce' is actually some peanut tasting sauce...didn't like it) from the waiter and happily announced," We should call for everything in the kitchen like honey and pepper and so on." So I tried asking for honey..and a few moments later,a very confused waiter set down a bowl of SUGAR next to me and quickly scuttled off before we asked for anything else. I think we scared them. Well, marinating and sizzling our food was fun but...The platter looked so disgusting at the end. Oh well, I told Louisa I preferred a steamboat to this. I was full. I actually planned to go back to my room and not venture out again for the day but Louisa had different plans for me. Her mother was having this pre-operation dinner for her (As I mentioned Louisa underwent a surgery) and her mum treated her and friends to TGI Fridays. And Louisa included me in it. I was so undecided over what to order because I was full from lunch and settled on a JD Burger. *Thank you again for dinner,Aunty!!!*

And after dinner, Louisa treated us to dessert....at Häagen-Daz. She ordered the Chocolate Fondue for the 7 of us. It was really pretty. Look:-

Ultimate bliss yes???

Mini scoops of Häagen-Daz ice-cream,cookies,marshmallows,strawberries,and other delicious bites surrounding the melted chocolate dip.....

Since I was so full...and there were three hungry guys among our party...I only ate two ice-cream minis and a marshmallow. (Louisa covered my nose with chocolate trying to feed me baby style.) Oh my goodness. I guess I should really thank Jon, Tristan and Afnand for being there because they ate all the fondue (less calories for me) and they all walked me back to my hostel (as Louisa's mum said,"Burn away part of our meal." Notice she said PART only.) Haha..the next day I did a major detox by eating only porridge (proudly prepared by ME).

Phew..that was fun.

Franchises and French Fries

OH YESSSS!!!!!

FINALLY I manage to access the "Create Post" in Blogger. I am SO SORRY for the lack of updates. Blogger hates me. This isn't the first time I have had problems logging in to update. AND the internet connection has been REALLY LOUSY since I came back from my CNY break. Frustrating.

Anyway, if you're wondering about the weird title for my post; it was something someone in my class randomly spouted while we were all tired and STARVING in our F7 class and were longing for a break. Classes seem to have got more intensive since I came back from CNY break, which was, to be honest...not long enough for me. I barely got to meet up with my friends. Oh well, at least with the family. The first half of CNY was spent with my father's side of the family in Ipoh.

Liane came back from KL for the celebration and she was snapping with her cool DSLR. She got some really really nice pictures of Sze Haw where she dressed and made up. Click here to see them. Here's a picture of me which she took:-*Sze Haw's ones are WAYYY nicer by the way. :)

Anyway, she also brought her electric curler with her and (salutes to her) she curled my hair. Man, can you imagine...my hair is like really 'healthy' or rather, stubborn is a more appropriate description. And Liane actually spent like almost an hour patiently curling my thick tresses. Plus, she did it TWICE. The first time, the curls lasted like barely 3 hours (solid proof of my 'so healthy' hair) and the second time, she tried a smart method; curling while it was damp. So it turned out well. Here's what I look like with curly hair:-

What do you think??

The second half of CNY in Klang with my mum's side of the family was rather subdued. We did not actually celebrate it because, well, we're still mourning for my Por Por, who passed away last year. It felt really strange, not having her around; though she never talked much, she was always nearby, taking in the happenings and interjecting a few words sometimes. It just felt incomplete...

We went to visit her grave site in remembrance of her. My aunt said this her son, Benjamin; who's 8 years old this year,"Ben, you must remember Por Por. Among Mummy's children, only you are old enough to have memories of her, to recollect her. Rachel and Daniel are too young, so please keep remembering." It struck me, as she was saying that, that my young cousins won't get to know their Por Por. So, I am glad that I got to know her, and to be able to remember her in the future.Thank God for that.

I guess that's all I have to tell about my CNY.

My next update will be about the day with Louisa in Pyramid a few days ago. I was spending time with her before her surgery date (she has had the surgery and by God's grace, everything went well and she's recovering well). My Progress Tests are coming and I am damn nervous. And also.... ACCA results for December 2008 will be out NEXT WEEK. Now THAT is SHIT SCARY!!!!

On this hysteric note...I end my post.
