Banana Leaf in Ipoh (again..more FOOD)

I decided to test the efficiency of Facebook in organising a lunch with a group of my friends in Ipoh. So I created a thread in the messages section and waited for results.

The result : FAIL.

In the end, we all had to rely on good ol' text-ing . Thank goodness they were all prompt repliers to texts. To illustrate how efficient they were, my phone vibrated and vibrated (I'd set it on silent so that the message tone won't disturb anyone) till my Mum thought I had calls coming in and that I was deliberately not answering them. But in the end..ABEL, VEMAL, ANNA, CHRISTINA, STEPHANIE, EUNICE, CLEMENT, ADRIAN, JIAN YAO, SASI, and SHOBANA, thanks for coming for makan!!It's been so long since I got to eat and catch up in a group.Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

I'd wanted to go to Big Tree Foot (Dai Shu Geok) but they wanted someplace nearer, we ended up in Sri Asoka Corner in Stadium Indera Mulia for Banana Leaf Rice.

Actually, the Banana Leaf here is pricey for Ipoh standards (hitting RM9 and above) but I like their vegetables and curries. So it's alright once in a while when I'm back in Ipoh. The lady boss had to ask her workers to join 4 tables for the 12 of us.

Banana Leaves

Starts off by serving us with vegetables and rice in portions to our liking.

Stephanie demonstrating the perfect hand sign to signal, "Cukup (enough)." when the guy has put enough vegetables and rice on your banana leaf:-

Vegetables
(pity they didn't cook my favourite brinjals on that day)

After that you may choose what meat you want from the kitchen. Most of us took either of the two:
Chicken

Mutton

and also a piece of their fish varuval:-
Vemal : My mum's varuval is better.
Christina : Yea...my mum too.
Abel : My mother too.
Me : Errr...okay.. =.=

So we all tuck in..and talk and talk...
I was busy snapping pictures of my food and everyone else and they started commenting, "Joyce ah..your blog. It's all about FOOD. I must never go see your blog in the middle of the night. I open the page and there's all those FOOD in there. So nice. Makes me hungryyyyy. Haiyooooo."
Err...guilty me???Image Hosted by ImageShack.us Haha!!! But you have to admit you all LIKE my pictures righttt????Like this:-
Okay...almost at the end of ANOTHER food post. I was snapping pictures of these two downing iced water to cool the burn :- Vemal took away my camera and snapped around. And I found this picture of me chowing my food:-
Hmmm....I should eat more Indian food. Then my lips would naturally have some colour (from the spiciness) and I can save on lip balm AND get to eat and the same time. But then again...it comes with calories. Darn...there goes my brilliant plan.Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Now to plan a yum cha session next...or dim sum.Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
